LA Metro | LA Railstats

UX Design & Research

Live in LA long enough, and you’re likely to hear quite a few stories of a time a delayed LA Metro train almost made someone late to an important engagement. LA Railstats, a web application that generates Metro Rail punctuality reports, was created to help inform Metro officials working to improve LA Metro Rail runtimes. After all, the alternative is LA traffic!

Bluebeam, Inc. | Download Center
UX Research & Writing

Show me someone who enjoys running software updates, and I’ll show you ten people that hate it — or at least find it an annoying, but necessary thing to do. On Bluebeam’s Download Center page, seemingly minor microcopy was throwing off some visitors’ attempts to update their software. With user research, I was able to turn that ship around. A perfect example of how something really small can have a sizable (and sometimes not so good!) impact.

If you’re like most people, you can agree music and visual arts bring entertainment into our lives. MCG, a visual and performing arts nonprofit, was running into issues supporting its community due to the pandemic keeping people physically apart. Enter an online portal, specifically designed to connect the MCG community in these times. As the old saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child” — pandemic or not.
